Why we exist.

Enable more tech success stories, globally.

Successful tech companies are created with the right mix of skills, knowledge and community. The balance of these three factors allows entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses that are attractive to investors and balance growth with profit.

The issue is that most technology incubators and traditional accelerators follow an outdated approach that puts investment as number one priority. This often comes at the cost of mismatching investor capabilities and founders accepting less ideal terms out of desperate needs.

We change that.

Our main priority is to support founders in increasing revenue by attracting high value customers and establishing a strong market position without relying on external funding. This keeps founders happy, investors keen and builds the foundation to sustainability.

What we do.

Selfstarters Academy is an online community for global tech entrepreneurs. We offer a number of digital programs to support the entrepreneurs journey and increase success. Our experts and advisors are experienced founders and have worked in the tech accelerator space.

We believe…

… you don’t need investment to build and grow your company

… that you should enjoy what you do.

… you never stop learning.

… in simplicity

… that you can live by design rather than default

… cash is mighty important in your company but people are more valuable

… entrepreneurship is a lifestyle

… everybody should say thank you when somebody holds the door open for you.

… in sharing knowledge

… in startups as a way to create a more prosperous future.

… focus, structure and discipline are key to success

… Eminem is overrated

Hi my name is Flavio Hangarter.

I am the founder and head coach at Selfstarters Academy.

I have been doing Business to Business sales for 15 years.

In the last seven years, I have worked in government-funded business accelerators, building high growth technology companies that sell to the world.

This time has taught me how to take a company from concept right through to selling into international markets and capital raising.

As an expert in Business Development I support entrepreneurs with their strategy, building systems, processes and rapidly gaining momentum in competitive markets to increase investment attractiveness.

What gets me excited the most is exploring new ways to increase customer attraction and sales conversions that give startups a better valuations.

Applying this way of thinking, one of the previous accelerators I have worked with, had their alumni companies raise more than $11 Million in funding and selling their products in 80+ countries across the globe.

With most of my clients, it starts by defining success and creating a traction plan. From there you can work out your positioning, adjust your offer and focus on acquiring high-value customers.

I’m a bit like Google Maps. You enter the destination of where you want to end up and I give you the most efficient route for your company.

And if you need support, I help you to set up your business sales and marketing to operate in such a way that allows you to scale.

After founding two tech companies, I still live and breathe the entrepreneurial life, which sets me apart in my approach to business development. Unlike business consultants, I believe in short term guerrilla tactics for quick revenue increase but balance it with the longterm view of lowering customer acquisition cost and increasing margins.

I have summed up my learnings from being an entrepreneur and coaching other entrepreneurs in my Sales and Marketing Implementation Programme.

Throughout the programme, I work with companies on their strategic positioning to stand out from competitors.

We then implement structure and systems that provide the framework for scale before we turn on the tap with more sales for their business.

It’s particularly useful for tech companies selling to other businesses and want to scale beyond seven figures in annual sales.

In particular, my programme helps you when:

  • You’re trying desperately to find investors without luck.

  • You’re thinking of building another feature.

  • You’re stuck. You feel like you are in a maze with no clear path out.

  • You keep getting pulled into different directions from experts but never really get to implement something that works.

  • You can’t work any harder. You’re busy finding, getting, keeping and growing customers.

  • Your sales are unpredictable, and your cash flow is dependent by how much you hustle every month.

My mission is to help founders find customers quickly, prove their model works and is scalable. In turn, it makes their business a lot more attractive to potential investors, partners and more prominent clients.

A business should be fun, not keep you up at night.
